چکیده
Participatory design is often promoted as an inclusive, open-ended, and fluid methodology for giving voice to marginalised underrepresented user groups. In contrast, participatory can also be used a tool political regeneration therefore sometimes criticised ineffectual tokenistic. Levels of stakeholder participation are not explicitly quantifiable, the degree which groups may involved in decision-making process varies significantly. Exploring binaries transformative versus tokenistic within Indigenous context, this article reflects on series workshops undertaken preschool community hub located discrete Aboriginal Murrin Bridge. The research draws upon Jeremy Till’s take ‘transformative participation’ Susanne Hofmann’s ‘Architecture Participation’, with reference processes developed Berlin-based Baupiloten’s precedent ‘Taka Tuka Land Kindergarten.’ investigates potential adapting principles derived from Robert Chambers's Rural Appraisal means adopting socially inclusive approach design. evaluates successes drawbacks methods Bridge provides critical analysis legitimacy these transformative, broader possibilities reimagining production contemporary architecture through regional context. This paper proposes a way to understand transformative choices, choices that change ‘who you are.’ First, it distinguishes two broad models of transformative choice: 1) ‘event-based’ transformative choices in which some event—perhaps an experience—downstream from a choice transforms you, and 2) ‘choice-based’ transformative choices in which the choice itself—and not something downstream from th...

The whole point of teaching and training is to have the learners leave in some way different from how they came in-more skilled, more knowledgeable, more self-aware. Transformative learning refers to dramatic change, where the learner achieves a shift in perspective. This shift results from a critical examination of one's own assumptions, values, and beliefs, and of the foundations and expectat...

The theory of transformative learning has been explored by different theorists and scholars. However, few scholars have made an attempt to make a comparison between transformative learning and Confucianism or between transformative learning and andragogy. The authors of this article address these comparisons to develop new and different insights to guide Web-based teaching and learning. Indeed,...

This article explores how technical and vocational learning may spiral into transformative learning. Transformative learning theory is reviewed and the learning tasks of critical theory are used to integrate various approaches to transformative learning. With this as a foundation, the article explores how transformative learning can be fostered in adult vocational education. DOI: 10.4018/javet....
